Two Thoughts Tuesday: Twist my Farm
1) Sunday's gorgeous weather found us taking a trip to Frying Pan Park to visit with the animals. Is there anything cuter than baby farm animals? I mean this is the main reason that I won't eat lamb
or veal. I just can't get the picture of these cute little creatures out of my head long enough to bring the fork to mouth. Just the thought of eating a baby animal makes my stomach twist and bile begin to rise in my throat. Not exactly appetizing.
And I'm not sure I can ever eat bacon again after seeing this.
At least not for a day or two anyway.
Now chickens, on the other hand, just don't register the same response. Pass the nuggets.
2) Throughout our entire visit at the farm, my children not only refrained from the constant squabbling and nitpicking, but actually appeared to enjoy each other's company.
At first, I thought it might be a side effect of the fresh spring air and the wide open running room.
But upon further reflection, I think they stepped up their game after observing this finely modeled example of sibling harmony.
Nothing says love your brother like a Pile O' Piggies.

In Case Anyone Needed a Visual Reminder of How Much My Children Have Grown
The kids think we go to Cox's Farm to buy pumpkins, slide down giant inclined planes and see farm animals. But really, we just go for the photo ops--though lately it's really hard to get decent pictures of either child. I did get a few that I plan to post sometime tomorrow or Thursday. For now though, please enjoy the picture time line provided below.

Does anyone else feel older just from looking at those pictures, or is it just a Mama thing?

Rain, at last!
Chase has been dying to use his monkey umbrella since the day we bought it. He finally got his wish last Thursday when we met Allie at the farm. He dutifully carried the umbrella around in the misty weather for a full five minutes.
However, shortly thereafter, he grew weary of the cumbersome contraption and passed it off to Mama to carry. Then we entered ourselves in a game of Try to Get a Picture of Chase and Allie Both Looking at the Camera. You get three tries. Are you ready? Ok, let's see round one...

Round three? If only Chase had his eyes open, we'd have a winner. But close only counts in horseshoes, so thanks for playing, & better luck next time folks. Please move along or insert another quarter to play again.
Here's a hint for those just learning the game: this little poser will give you a smirk any day of the week.

Farmer Chase
I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Chase is a farmer child trapped in suburbia. The kid just loves going to the farm and getting all dirty. Yesterday, he was very excited because he got to pet a mommy sheep and a fat bunny. Monkey trotted himself all over that farm and wore himself out pretty well. In the Mama dictionary of life, that's the true definition of a successful outing--when you tucker your child out to the point that he needs a 3 hour nap the next day to recover.
